A polished black grand piano with its lid elegantly raised, strings and hammers subtly visible inside, sits on a lightly varnished hardwood floor in a bright, modern music studio. Against the far wall, floor-to-ceiling white acoustic panels alternate with warm oak shelves lined with neatly arranged scores and metronomes. Soft afternoon natural light pours through a large window, creating gentle highlights along the piano’s glossy curves and a clean reflection on the floor. Photographed at eye level with a slight angle from the keyboard end, the shot uses a shallow depth of field so the piano keys are in crisp focus while the background blurs softly. The mood is professional yet inviting, with photographic realism and a clean, contemporary aesthetic that suggests focus and musical growth.

Lessons

All lessons are tailored for each student and their goals:

My Pop Style lessons are great for the younger students or adult students who want to play music as a hobby or as a fun pass time. These lessons focus on learning your favorite songs and can be genre specific. While we will still build foundational elements, the majority of the classes focus on fun and provide an overview of all the different ways music appears in culture.

My Conservatory Style Pedagogy focuses on building strong musicianship and instrument specific foundations. These lessons prepare students to play in band, orchestra and other ensembles. Students will have the skills to take auditions for groups like the All Southern/ State Honor bands and San Diego Youth Ensembles. For the dedicated and passionate student these lessons are designed to prepare them for College auditions and help them succeed in college level classes and performances.

Reviews

Kaitlyn V. Adult oboe student

Austyn was great! I’m not a beginner and needed with improving my tone. He did a good job of using a combination of imagery and more tangible suggestions to describe what I should be doing with my air, and how I should shape my sound. He also helped me with other items he noticed: embouchure, fingerings, reed making, etc. As a person he is a flexible and calm, I’d highly recommend him.

“As an adult learner, I appreciate how Austyn tailors each lesson to my goals, blending theory, technique, and songs I actually want to sing.”
